Strengthening Parent-Child Relationships

Repairing connection and rebuilding trust between caregivers and children.

What Families May Experience

The parent-child relationship is where children learn about safety, emotions, and connection. When cycles of conflict, disconnection, or stress take hold, that relationship can feel strained. We help families improve communication, develop emotional safety, and foster healthy emotional connection through relationship-based, attachment-focused work.

Common Signs & Challenges

  • Frequent power struggles or conflict
  • Feeling disconnected from your child
  • Communication that escalates quickly
  • Difficulty repairing after ruptures
  • Wanting to feel closer as a family

How Counselling Can Help

We begin by building safety and trust, then work at your family's pace to understand the needs beneath the surface. Through relationship-first, trauma-informed, and neurodiversity-affirming care, we help children, youth, and families develop the skills and emotional safety they need to thrive — while strengthening secure attachment and connection at home.

My Therapeutic Approach

Sheila combines over 9 years of behaviour intervention experience with deeply trauma-informed, attachment-based counselling. Sessions are child-centred and often play-based, moving at a pace that respects each client's comfort. Parents and caregivers are essential partners — through parent coaching and collaboration with schools and allied professionals, we build consistent, wrap-around support.

Goals Families Can Work Toward

  • Greater emotional safety and regulation
  • Stronger, more secure relationships
  • Practical, everyday coping strategies
  • Improved communication and connection
  • Increased confidence and resilience
  • Consistent support across home and school
