Trauma-Informed Care
Safety, pacing, and gentle, evidence-based healing.
Healing at Your Child's Pace
Drawing profoundly from Sheila's crisis and trauma counselling experience at BWSS, our trauma-informed therapy ensures we prioritize physical and emotional safety above all else.
We never force a child to retell painful stories before they are ready. Instead, we focus on regulating the nervous system, building coping capacity, and processing difficult experiences indirectly and safely through play therapy, art, and metaphor. A narrative-informed approach honours what happened without reducing a child to it, keeping their identity and strengths in view.
For teens processing difficult experiences alongside anxiety or identity stress, youth and teen counselling offers trauma-informed support at their own pace. Younger children often work through these experiences in play-based counselling, where hard feelings can be explored safely at a comfortable distance.
Professional Collaboration
A child's growth is supported best when their whole village works together. Sheila actively collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent, wrap-around support across all environments. We partner closely with:
Bridging the Gap: To ensure that therapeutic strategies translate into real-world success, Sheila is available to attend school meetings (including IEPs), conduct school and daycare observations, and help develop cohesive, evidence-based behaviour and emotional regulation plans that work seamlessly between home, school, and clinic.
