Sheila Aini, MC, RCC
9 Years in Behaviour Intervention
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor with 9 years of experience in behaviour intervention, I bring a deeply trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming approach to my practice. My clinical background is deeply rooted in my foundational work as a Behaviour Interventionist and Behaviour Therapist.
My clinical training and trauma counselling experience at Battered Women's Support Services (BWSS) strengthened the trauma-informed lens I bring to my work. It reinforced my belief that physical and emotional safety must come before any behavioural strategies can be effective.
I specialize in child-centred play therapy, behaviour intervention, and relationship-first counselling. I've worked extensively across homes, schools, daycares, and community settings, allowing me to understand the complex environments children navigate daily. My goal is to empower children to express their big emotions safely and to partner with parents and educators to build consistent, wrap-around support.

Who This Helps: Conditions & Challenges We Support

Bridging the Gap: To ensure that therapeutic strategies translate into real-world success, Sheila is available to attend school meetings (including IEPs), conduct school and daycare observations, and help develop cohesive, evidence-based behaviour and emotional regulation plans that work seamlessly between home, school, and clinic.
Why Children Connect Differently
Children experience therapy differently than adults.
Most adults make the decision to seek counselling because they're looking for support, answers, or change. Children rarely make that choice themselves. They often arrive because a parent, caregiver, teacher, or another trusted adult recognized they needed support.
Many children don't fully understand why they're coming to therapy. Some feel nervous. Some are unsure what to expect. Others aren't ready to talk at all. That's okay.
I don't believe children should be expected to open up the moment they walk through the door. Instead, I believe meaningful change begins with connection. Before children can talk about difficult experiences, learn new coping skills, or work through big emotions, they first need to feel genuinely seen, understood, accepted, and free to be themselves.
Rather than rushing into treatment, I focus on building a genuine relationship through play, curiosity, laughter, creativity, and shared experiences. While it may look like we're "just playing," something much more important is happening. We're building the connection that allows therapy to become meaningful.
Every child deserves a place where they feel excited to come, understood without judgment, and supported for exactly who they are.
